MISSION & HISTORY.
Our mission is to share the love of Jesus as we give food, clothing, housing, and hope to the hungry, homeless, and hurting. Through a variety of ministries, we are a refuge for people with an immediate need and offer an opportunity for renewal to those who need a second chance. Our food pantry and clothes closet provide immediate assistance to approximately 250 families every month. Because we believe in second chances, our Heather’s Hope Housing Program offers an opportunity for renewal to those who have been homeless, are re-entering society after incarceration or rehabilitation, or those needing to transition out of a difficult life situation.
HOW DID WE GET STARTED
Christian Helping Hands was started by people uniting together to care for others and has been providing food assistance to low-income families since 1994. In 2009, a vision was cast to do more than just give food to the hungry. With limited resources and increasing need, we added services with minimum expense. The Clothing Closet is furnished by community donations and clients can take what they need at no cost. Churches, civic clubs, social organizations, and school groups caught the vision and mobilized the residents of our community to get involved.
In 2010, we had an increased request for assistance from homeless or at risk of becoming homeless single mothers with children. In 2011, a house was given to us and a single mother with two children moved into the home. This initiated Heather’s Hope Transitional Housing for women who need a second chance.
Realizing that God was the ultimate provider of so many resources, we made a promise that whatever He gave us, we would use to serve whoever He sends us. Serving more than 250 families every month through a variety of ministries, we will continue to be a refuge for people with an immediate need and offer an opportunity for renewal to those who need a second chance.
WHO WE ARE
We have many people who love to volunteer with Christian Helping Hands, but it would not be possible to function if it weren't for these people.
