Food Pantry

Christian Helping Hands has provided food assistance to families in Stephens and Jefferson counties since 1994.  Families or individuals can come once a month for a complete order of food assistance, and they can come weekly to get fresh fruits and vegetables when they are available.

As a client-choice pantry people get to choose the items they want most.  Volunteers
assist them with shopping and provide much needed friendship and emotional support.
Serving over 225 families each month, we want our pantry to be a place where everyone
can feel good about themselves, even if they have a need.  We get to know the people we
serve by name, and we treat them like friends offering hope, encouragement and a
listening ear when needed.   We often tell our volunteers to send people home with the
biggest box of food we can give but if they don’t leave our pantry feeling loved, we have
not done our job.

An increasing number of senior adults on fixed income have needed food assistance.  As
the distribution sight for Sr. Adult Commodity boxes, 24 senior adults from Stephens
County with extreme need are provided additional healthy food items in addition to
assistance from our pantry. We also partner with the City of Comanche by providing
food to the Sr. Nutrition Center where hot meals are served daily to 60 or more senior
adults and 27 meals are delivered daily to those who are homebound.

The Food Pantry also connects people with other resources for utility assistance, rental
assistance, or other basic needs to improve their life. Although we have other ministries,
the food pantry is still the hub of everything we do.

NEED HELP?

We understand that no one wants to ask for help, but sometimes it is simply unavoidable. With a client-focused approach, we provide a shopping experience that not only meets the
needs of you and your family but allows you the dignity and hope you deserve.

The Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10:00 am– 4:00 pm. Please bring your photo ID and a current utility bill with your name and address. Please get in touch with us if you don’t have a
utility bill or need more information. Once your household is in our system, you may receive food once per month.

WANT TO HELP?

Volunteers are truly the lifeblood of our organization. We could not serve our community without their help. If you want to know more about volunteering at the Food Pantry on Friday of each week, click the volunteer button below or something like this.
